What if life choices were this easy?

With so much going on around us daily, we’re faced with the constant need to make choices.

And when those choices involve your wellness – emotional, mental and physical, it can become overwhelming.

For me, there were countless times when I didn’t listen to my intuition, and each one cost me in one form or another. Not listening led me down paths of heartache, financial imbalance and even potential physical danger.

In looking back, I ask myself why I didn’t trust my intuition in these instances.

The answer for me was anchored in self-doubt that plagued me since childhood. My head was rational and had guided me well through many of life’s challenges, so why listen to my “gut?”

One realization was that I was too busy mentally evaluating outcomes to even hear my intuition.

What has helped me immensely was learning to listen…to my small, still voice which has in it more wisdom than I could even know. After all, it’s in the fiber of our DNA and carried in our connection to the heart.

Now, when faced with a choice, I know how to really listen.
I start with a simple breathing meditation that goes like this:

Breathe in for 5 counts.
Hold for 3 counts.
Exhale for 5 counts.
Repeat 7 times.

I focus on this breathing pattern and ask for heart-body guidance about the choice I’m facing.

Then, I both listen and feel what my heart and body are saying to me.

Sometimes it feels like fear increasing with one choice or dissipating with the other choice. Other times it feels like either warmth or that “knot in my stomach” which speaks volumes.

The heart-body answers are simple ones, not based on being “right.” I try not to get my brain involved in the process to rationalize; it usually leads me right back to where I started.
